0 notesGOGO DANCING.
I just felt like writing this after a recent experience I had with a Gig. I’ve been GoGo dancing for over 2 years. I have danced competitively for over 6. This includes spending many hours making my own unique outfits, learning how to be a pro user at various props (Hula hoops, Flags, Fans, etc) and doing my own hair and makeup.
With that being said.. if you are a promoter and you are trying to sell me on Performing/Dancing at your party for free, in exchange for SELF PROMOTION… let me just tell you something… SELF PROMOTION DOES NOT PAY THE BILLS, and i’ve been doing this long enough where i’m sure i don’t need anymore “Self-Promotion”. There is plenty of other 15 year old raver girls in walmart underwear, which they call gogo attire, that value themselves at getting paid at “self-promotion” .. and i highly encourage you to ask them. I take pride in what i do, and i love what i do.. and i spend hours and hours perfecting the use of each of my props and hand sewing majority of my outfits, therefore looking completely unique at every Gig i attend. My time, and work, and effort is worth the Dancer fee i charge!
Occasionally i will take small gig offers just to have some fun.. which reminds me of another thing that irritates me … when people hire me as a gogo dancer and expect to pay me $15 an hour to dance to “jukebox” music on a tiny platform with a stripper pole around it.
I AM NOT A STRIPPER.
If i wanted to be a stripper.. i could EASILY dance at ANY club making more than $15 an hour. I promise you. But that’s not what i do. I’m a performer, designer, artist, dancer and nightclub entertainer, not a money hustler. So.. Don’t be surprised if I walk my happy ass right out the door if you plan to have me work otherwise.
